Acie on the Queen B

Acie Takes To Facebook Live In His Own Capacity

Recently appointed chairperson of the communication task-force for the ministry of finance took to Facebook on Sunday evening (21/10). in his own words he had come in his personal capacity help the ordinary person to understand what the ministry of finance is doing to turn around Zimbabwe. In this short post we discuss a few points that we gleaned from the live broadcast.

First thing first Acie is now the chairperson of the communication task-force for the ministry of finance. He represents that brand and whether he likes it or not, many a Zimbabwean will associate what he says with the ministry of finance. In the future it will do him well to just act in his official capacity when speaking official matters.

The Public Need To Understand Ministry Of Finance Strategy

Acie argued that the public needed to be aware of the strategy the minister of finance is prescribing for the economy. We agree with Acie in this regard he makes a valid point. What lacked however is an elaboration on the strategy. It leaves one to wonder if ever  such a strategy exists, if it exists does the ministry of finance understand it enough to explain to others. Time will tell.

The Problem Is Corruption At RBZ

According to Acie, there is massive corruption at the RBZ involving the directors at The RBZ. He supplied names of the directors whom he claimed that they worth million of USD yet they have only ever worked for RBZ. Further even though their employment contracts prohibit them from sitting on the board of any private, Acie claims that the said RBZ directors sit on the board of a certain private company.

These corrupt directors form part of a cartel which is mopping up both gold and foreign currency in the country. As if that is not enough they then decide who can be allocated foreign currency and how much for that matter. In Acie's view there must be a political arm that supports for these directors to be able to get away with this witchcraft.

Everybody Works For Queen B

Acie figures that everybody in Zimbabwe is working for Queen B. Mthuli Ncube knows the Queen B and is on a mission to dis-empower the Queen B. Acie went on to describe how bad news this Queen B is and he is the one that bought vehicles for Zanu PF big wigs.

 Clapping Hands For Acie But...

1. The live broadcast had a dancehall like quality, with Acie more than once talking about being hated. Akin to ZimDancehall lyrics where the singers frequently allude to haters what what. That nonsense belongs there, certainly in the communications taskforce for min of finance we expect better.
2. Surely if we know the people that are corrupt should we not let the police do the investigation. Naming and shaming them sounds cool Acie but its probably also forewarning them to cover their tracks. We agree with Advocate Fadzai Mahere on this one, she tweeted:
3.Given a context in which the temperature of the Zimbabwean person was rising over 2% tax, rising prices, shortages of fuel, cooking oil and mazoe, a suggestion to search for Queen B may just be a welcome distraction. What if that is the whole point of all this banter. So skillfully delivered with parallelism, dramatic pauses and deliberately shocking revelations. Musaitiswe

How I got conned by a Zimbo Bolt driver in JNB

I am a Zimbabwean transited through Johannesburg in the past few days and got conned by Zimbo Bolt taxi driver. As I had a layover of  about 18 hours it was clear for me: First I needed to get a taxi from the airport to Ecohotel, sleep over night and find my way back to the airport around 10:00 on 11 Jul 2021. Having succeeded at the first task, I asked the reception how to get a taxi to take me to the nearest mall so I could have a decent breakfast at the Mugg & Bean (zvangu zvekuda zvinhu). She told me that I had to download the Bolt App which would locate a genuine, and reasonably priced ride. The app is slightly complex, collecting both telephone and bank details. With the help the receptionist, a slim lady of warm spirits, I managed to identify the number belonging to the sim card I had purchased from the airport. Then I also entered the details for my Visa card. In few minutes I was waiting for my ride which was being driven by a verified driver, whose I immediately...

Half time is hardly time to hang one's boots: ZimElection 2018

The elections have come is all that one can say regarding the Zimbabwe harmonized elections of 2018. The 'and gone' part is hard for the main parties involved. Zanu pf have accepted victory with president tweeting that he was humbled by the support of the zimbabwean people. Several foreign politicians including Juluis Malema, Cyril Ramaphosa, Lungu of Zambia have already tweeted their congratulatory messages. However Zanu pf aligned varakashi on social media have not yet moved on. They are still engaged in a seemingly more heated rakashing than before. Making one wonder why. Are they  somehow aware that for the MDC and for the majority of Zimbabweans it is not over so they are somehow trying to run a counter intelligence campaign? Are they more aware of the challenges that riddled this election that they can see how easily what they say they have may be reversed soon? There are many more questions one could ask but what remains is that even Zanu varakashi are not hanging their ...
